Lionsgate Plans John Wick 5, Animated Prequel, Spinoff

Lionsgate has officially announced that John Wick: Chapter 5 is in production, with Keanu Reeves set to return as the titular character alongside director Chad Stahelski. The announcement was made during CinemaCon, confirming that the franchise will continue despite the ambiguous ending of Chapter 4, which suggested Wick's death. In addition to the new film, Lionsgate is developing an animated prequel featuring Reeves' voice, focusing on his completion of the Impossible Task, and a live-action spinoff centered on the character Caine, directed and starring Donnie Yen. The animated project aims for a mature audience and is expected to explore Wick's origins. Production for the Caine film is slated to begin in Hong Kong in 2026. Overall, the John Wick universe is set to expand significantly with these new installments and projects.
