Parents Charged with Attempted Murder of Daughter

Ihsan Ali and his wife, Zahraa Ali, have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking their 17-year-old daughter outside Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington, in an apparent 'honor killing' attempt due to her refusal to enter an arranged marriage with an older man. The incident occurred on October 18 when the girl sought refuge at her school after running away from home, fearing for her safety. Video footage captured Ihsan choking his daughter to the point of unconsciousness, while Zahraa also allegedly attempted to choke her. Witnesses, including the girl's boyfriend, intervened to stop the assault, with a passerby holding the father down until police arrived. Both parents have multiple charges against them, including attempted kidnapping and domestic violence, and their bail has been set at substantial amounts. The court has ordered them to surrender their passports and avoid contact with each other and their daughter.
