Golden State Warriors legend Alvin Attles, known as 'The Destroyer', has passed away at the age of 87. Attles' career with the Warriors spanned over six decades, marking the longest stint with a single franchise in NBA history. Drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors in 1960, he played 11 seasons, served as a player-coach, and then fully transitioned to coaching, leading the team to their first Bay Area championship in 1975. Attles was one of the first Black head coaches to win an NBA championship and later served as the team's general manager. His No. 16 jersey was retired by the Warriors, and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. Attles is remembered for his professionalism, grace, and profound impact on the basketball community and the Bay Area.
