Derek Chang Named President and CEO of Liberty Media

Liberty Media has appointed Derek Chang as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2025, succeeding Greg Maffei who stepped down in November 2024. Chang, a board member since 2021 and a veteran in the media and sports entertainment industry, will join a three-man executive committee alongside Chase Carey and Dob Bennett, with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali reporting to this group. John Malone, the current chairman, will remain interim CEO until Chang officially takes over. Malone praised Chang's extensive experience and leadership abilities, emphasizing his familiarity with Liberty's operations. Chang aims to focus on optimizing Liberty's portfolio and supporting the growth of its assets, including Formula One and MotoGP, following Liberty's recent acquisition of the latter.
