Multi-State Crashes Cause Deaths, Road Closures

A spate of traffic crashes across multiple U.S. states and in Singapore over the weekend and into Monday killed multiple people, injured others and prompted numerous road closures while investigators work to determine causes. Confirmed fatalities included a driver killed in a three‑car crash in Andover, Massachusetts; a 52‑year‑old man killed in a solo motorcycle crash in Fairfield, California; a 23‑year‑old woman killed in Redford Township, Michigan; and a motorcyclist killed in St. Joseph County, Michigan. Serious injuries included a 68‑year‑old Illinois motorcyclist who had a leg severed after colliding with a left‑turning SUV and was hospitalized in critical condition, and at least one person seriously hurt when a vehicle crashed into a yard in Omaha. Major disruptions included a closure of U.S. Highway 26 near Granite Hill, Idaho; a head‑on tractor‑trailer crash on I‑44 in Phelps County, Missouri that caused fires and a large diesel spill; a dump truck striking a bridge on State Route 104 in Columbus; an extrication crash closing NC‑27 in Gaston County; and lane reductions on U.S.‑36 in Boulder. Authorities across the affected areas asked the public to avoid impacted routes while emergency crews, transportation agencies and investigators clear roadways and seek witnesses.
