The upcoming TV adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel 'Carrie' has been officially greenlit by Prime Video, with Mike Flanagan set as the showrunner, writer, and director of select episodes. Known for his previous work in the horror genre, Flanagan brings his expertise to this 'bold and timely reimagining' of the classic story. Summer H. Howell is in negotiations to play the titular role, with Siena Agudong cast as Sue Snell. Filming is set to begin in Vancouver this summer, and the series will explore themes such as high school bullying, community scandal, and telekinetic powers. This adaptation marks Flanagan's fourth collaboration with King's works, following 'Gerald's Game', 'Doctor Sleep', and 'The Life of Chuck'.
