Taylor Schabusiness Attacks Lawyer Again in Court

Taylor Schabusiness, a 27-year-old woman serving a life sentence for the 2022 murder and dismemberment of her boyfriend, violently attacked her attorney during a court hearing on April 4. This incident marks the second time Schabusiness has physically assaulted a lawyer; she previously elbowed another attorney during a competency hearing in February 2023. During the recent preliminary hearing, Schabusiness lunged at her attorney, prompting court officers to tackle her to the ground. Following the outburst, her lawyer requested to withdraw from the case, which was subsequently approved. Schabusiness is also facing charges for allegedly assaulting a police sergeant at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution, where she is incarcerated. Her violent behavior in court has raised concerns about her mental state and fitness for trial.
