Pune, RDU Expand Parking to Meet Rising Demand

Pune is set to open its largest municipal parking facility in Kothrud, offering 766 spaces to alleviate severe congestion caused by rising vehicle numbers, with the facility expected to open within 15 days. Meanwhile, Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina is significantly expanding its parking, adding 500 spaces immediately and aiming for 11,000 total spaces in the Park Economy 3 lot by next summer. The $164 million RDU project will introduce covered walkways with solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, and a customer amenity building. The expansion at RDU addresses a 6.5% increase in air traffic and record numbers of nonstop flights and airlines. Both Pune and RDU's initiatives highlight efforts in rapidly growing cities to improve public infrastructure and accommodate increasing urban and travel demands.
