Three Motorcycle Crashes Leave One Dead, Others Injured

Three separate motorcycle crashes in Connecticut, Illinois and California left one person dead and others seriously injured. In Vernon, Conn., an adult male motorcyclist suffered serious injuries around 7 p.m. Monday after colliding with a vehicle at Hartford Turnpike and Mount Vernon Drive; he was taken to Hartford Hospital, the car driver was uninjured and cooperating, and the Metro Traffic Services Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating after the roadway was closed for hours. In Danville, Ill., a 46-year-old man died after his motorcycle struck the driver-side door of a Hyundai Sonata when he failed to stop at a traffic signal at Gilbert and North streets; he was transported to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center and pronounced dead, and identification is pending notification by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office. In San Diego, a 42-year-old motorcyclist suffered a serious knee injury in a hit-and-run after a vehicle made a sudden right turn and struck him on Rosecrans Street near Fenelon Street; he was hospitalized and police are asking witnesses to contact the SDPD Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers.
