A house explosion in Bel Air, Maryland, occurred around 6:42 a.m. on August 11, resulting in at least one fatality and injuries to two others, including a utility worker from Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE). Fire crews were initially responding to reports of a gas leak when the explosion took place, leveling the home and damaging neighboring residences. Master Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire described the incident as one of the largest explosions he has witnessed in his 18-year career.
