Hulu Plans Prison Break Reboot With New Cast, Storyline

Hulu is officially moving forward with a reboot of the popular crime drama Prison Break, distinct from previous revivals, featuring an entirely new cast and storyline set within the same universe as the original series. The reboot stars Emily Browning as Cassidy, a former soldier turned prison guard who takes a job at one of America's deadliest prisons to prove how far she'll go for someone she loves, with no returning characters from the original series. The showrunner and head writer is Elgin James, known for Mayans M.C., and the reboot has received a pilot order that has now progressed to a series greenlight by Hulu. Original cast member Dominic Purcell has publicly stated he will not be returning, emphasizing his intent to move on professionally. This new iteration is part of an expanding Prison Break universe, which has included a spin-off, a TV movie, and other media. No official premiere date has been announced yet for the Hulu reboot.
