ICRC Temporarily Suspends Gaza City Operations Amid Intensified Conflict

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has temporarily suspended its operations in Gaza City due to intensified military hostilities, relocating staff to safer offices in southern Gaza while continuing to provide assistance from there. Tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza City are enduring severe humanitarian conditions, including killings, forced displacement, and shortages of essential supplies. Despite the suspension, the ICRC is supporting local first responders and maintaining operations such as medical donations, bakery support, and water network repairs. The Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah remains a critical facility for treating the wounded. The ICRC emphasized that civilian protection under international humanitarian law is paramount and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities to save lives. Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that Israeli fire killed 51 people in the past 24 hours, with the overall death toll since the conflict began exceeding 66,000, including deaths from starvation.
