Confirmed EF-3 Tornado Kills 19 Kentucky, EF-0 Twisters Hit NJ, MD, DE
A series of tornadoes and severe storms impacted multiple states including New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Kentucky recently. In New Jersey, an EF-0 tornado touched down briefly in the Collings Lakes neighborhood, causing minor damage such as downed branches and peeled metal roof sheeting, with no reported injuries. A second tornado was confirmed in Dorchester County, Maryland, extending into Sussex County, Delaware, though its EF rating and wind speeds have yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Kentucky experienced a much stronger tornado, preliminarily rated EF-3 with wind speeds up to 165 mph, which tore through Laurel County and surrounding areas, resulting in at least 19 fatalities and numerous critical injuries. The National Weather Service continues to survey damage sites, including a possible tornado in Gloucester County, New Jersey, and another potential twister in southern Delaware. These events are part of a larger multi-state tornado outbreak affecting the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic region, with ongoing assessments and potential for additional storms.
