Small Plane Crashes in Georgia, Florida Injuring Multiple
Two separate small plane crashes occurred recently in the United States, both resulting in injuries but no fatalities. In Brookhaven, Georgia, a late-night training flight ended when the plane crashed into a suburban front yard, injuring all three passengers onboard, who were conscious and transported to a trauma center; no one on the ground was harmed, though power briefly went out in the neighborhood. The plane had been practicing touch-and-go landings before striking trees and electrical wires; an investigation by the NTSB and FAA is underway. In Lake Worth Beach, Florida, a small Orlican M-8 Eagle on a test flight after a new propeller installation lost engine power shortly after takeoff, clipped a car with five occupants, and crashed near John Prince Park; minor injuries were reported among the two men onboard and five people in the car. The pilot was conducting the test flight to calibrate the new propeller, and an NTSB preliminary report detailed the sequence of events, with a final cause report pending. Additionally, a small plane crashed near Disappearing Island in Ponce Inlet, Florida, with the sole pilot onboard uninjured, according to local authorities.
