Roseville Man Faces 21 Counts for Illegal Weapons

Marc Jay Berman, a 74-year-old man from Roseville, California, has been charged with 21 counts related to the illegal manufacturing and sale of assault weapons and silencers across two counties. The charges follow a regulatory inspection at the Placerville Gun Show, where authorities overheard Berman attempting to sell a silencer. A search of his home by special agents and the Roseville Police Department’s SWAT team uncovered eight illegal assault rifles, a silencer, and various firearm components. Berman allegedly conducted the operation from his garage, bypassing firearms regulations by completing weapon assemblies after initial legal sales of serialized parts. California Attorney General Rob Bonta emphasized the dangers of such illegal activities and commended law enforcement for their role in seizing the weapons. Berman is set to be arraigned on the charges in March, with potential penalties ranging from six months to eight years.
