Future Family Launches First Nationwide IVF Insurance Program

Future Family, a San Francisco-based startup, has launched Orange Shield, the first nationwide IVF insurance program in the United States, designed to provide financial protection for families undergoing fertility treatment. The program allows couples to receive a refund of treatment costs, which can average around $40,000 for two IVF cycles, if they do not achieve a live birth after two attempts. To participate, families pay an initial fee of $3,000 followed by monthly payments of $999 for five months, making the financial burden of IVF more manageable. This initiative aims to alleviate the emotional and financial stress associated with IVF, as highlighted by CEO Claire Tomkins, who is personally familiar with the challenges of the process. Developed in partnership with Munich Re Ventures and other industry experts, the program is available at participating clinics nationwide. Eligibility criteria for the insurance vary, with specific considerations for patients aged 38 and older.
