West Virginia State Senator Michael Maroney has been arrested for the second time in just over a month, this time on charges of driving under the influence, expired registration, and no registration. The arrest occurred on September 23 after police initiated a traffic stop due to multiple infractions, and he was cooperative during the encounter. Maroney is currently detained in the Northern Regional Jail pending arraignment. His previous arrest on August 13 involved charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct related to an incident at a video lottery establishment, where he was seen on surveillance engaging in inappropriate behavior. Following that incident, he was removed from his Senate committee positions. Maroney, who is serving his second term in the Senate, was defeated in his bid for a third term in the May primary election.
