Avalanche deaths reported in Valais, Norway
A 34-year-old Swiss ski tourer died in an avalanche accident in the Grand-Combin region of Lower Valais while skiing towards the Valsorey hut. His companion raised the alarm, and despite the efforts of mountain guides and rescue teams, the victim was found deceased. Meanwhile, a British climber, Henry Crosby, was killed by an avalanche while ice climbing on Gaustatoppen mountain in Norway. The 41-year-old's body was recovered four days later, suffering from traumatic head injuries, as poor weather complicated rescue efforts. A coroner's inquest revealed Crosby's provisional cause of death, with further investigations pending. Both incidents highlight the dangers associated with winter sports and avalanche risks.
