Vancouver Triplex Fire Displaces Seven, Hospitalizes Firefighter

A two-alarm fire broke out at a triplex apartment on Northeast 53rd Street in Vancouver, displacing seven residents and injuring one firefighter who was hospitalized in stable condition. Neighbors reported hearing several explosions before the fire was discovered, with heavy black smoke and flames extending from the first floor to the attic of one unit. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the other two attached apartments. The Vancouver Fire Department, supported by Clark County Fire District 6, responded promptly and used standard precautions to decontaminate gear after exposure to toxic smoke. The Clark County Fire Marshals office is leading the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire. Despite the damage to the attic and one unit, the other apartments were spared from fire damage.
