The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched its first nationwide membership drive in nine years, starting on September 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to take membership under the new drive, which will be conducted in three phases ending on October 31, followed by internal elections. Workshops at national, state, district, block, and booth levels are being held to prepare for the campaign, which aims to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and recruit new members across India. The drive will utilize both offline and online methods for membership registration, including QR codes, apps, and missed calls. BJP state presidents, including Bhupendra Chaudhary and Manmohan Samal, have emphasized the importance of expanding the party's base to secure electoral victories and counter opposition forces. The campaign will target various demographics, including youth, women, and beneficiaries of government schemes, with a goal of enrolling one crore members in states like Odisha.
