Euston Station Expands Early Boarding Measures

Network Rail has implemented measures at Euston station to alleviate overcrowding by allowing earlier boarding on certain services, addressing safety concerns highlighted by London TravelWatch. Currently, passengers on 40% of Avanti West Coast services can board 20 minutes before departure, with this figure set to increase to 55% by Christmas. Continuous boarding has also been introduced for London Northwestern Railway services to Birmingham. These changes follow Transport Secretary Louise Haigh's directive for improvements after reports of dangerous overcrowding due to last-minute platform announcements. Network Rail's five-point improvement plan also includes reviewing the use of a large advertising screen, increasing concourse space, and upgrading facilities. Haigh praised these immediate actions, emphasizing the need for long-term solutions to improve passenger safety and experience at Euston.
