Geffen Playhouse Plans World Premieres for 2025-26 Season

Tarell Alvin McCraney's inaugural season at the Geffen Playhouse emphasizes artistic development with workshops for nearly all productions in the upcoming 2025-26 season, including the world premiere of "Am I Roxie?" in September. McCraney aims to create a nurturing environment for writers and directors, allowing them ample time to refine their works before production, which he believes has diminished in contemporary theater. Meanwhile, MusicalFare will debut its residency at Shea's 710 Theatre next fall with a lineup of popular Broadway musicals, including "Dreamgirls" and "Mamma Mia!" The season will also feature a variety of productions from local theater companies, concluding with Aaron Sorkin's "A Few Good Men." In addition, The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio is set to present several productions, including "Fat Ham" and a one-person version of "A Christmas Carol," showcasing a diverse array of performances in the coming months.
