Two Fatal Crashes Close Loop 202 Freeway

Two separate crashes on Loop 202 in Phoenix early Sunday morning resulted in two fatalities. The first incident occurred around midnight when a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle near Recker Road, killing one person and leaving two others hospitalized. The second crash happened at approximately 2 a.m. near 44th Street, involving multiple vehicles and resulting in another death, although details on additional injuries remain unclear. As a result of these incidents, the westbound lanes of Loop 202 are closed at 44th Street and the southbound lanes at Higley Road, with no estimated reopening times provided.
