Israeli security services have arrested an Israeli businessman for allegedly being part of an Iranian plot to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar. The suspect, who has not been named, had extensive business ties in Turkey and Iran and was recruited by Iranian intelligence. He was smuggled into Iran twice and received payments to carry out the assassination missions. The plot was uncovered following Israel's assassination of top Iranian allies, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, earlier this year. The businessman discussed the plans with Iranian agents in Turkey and Iran, and the Shin Bet reported that he received training and funds from Iranian officials. The arrest comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with recent explosive attacks in Lebanon and Syria resulting in numerous casualties.
