Disney Releases Tron, Tron: Legacy 4K Remasters September

Disney is set to release fully remastered 4K Ultra HD SteelBook editions of the original 1982 Tron and its 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy on September 16, ahead of the October 10 theatrical debut of Tron: Ares. The remasters include significant visual upgrades, such as enhanced vibrancy for the original Tron’s grid sequences and improved digital de-aging effects for Jeff Bridges’ character in Legacy, addressing past criticisms. Both films will feature Dolby Vision, HDR10, and immersive audio formats including Dolby Atmos, with digital versions available on major platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. The release celebrates the franchise's pioneering CGI and storytelling that influenced generations, while also continuing the saga with the new film Tron: Ares, whose soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails will be featured at Disney's Tron Lightcycle attractions starting mid-September. Fans can expect the 4K editions to include original special features and benefit from supervised restorations by the original directors.
