Tinder Expands Double Date Amid User Shift

Tinder has launched its Double Date feature, allowing users to partner with friends and match as pairs with other duos, aiming to make dating more social and less pressured, especially for Gen Z and women. Nearly 90% of Double Date profiles were created by users under 29, and women are three times more likely to like pairs than solo profiles. The feature also boosts group chat activity by 35% compared to one-on-one chats and attracted new and returning users, comprising nearly 15% of those accepting invitations. Double Date is initially available in the US and select markets, with a global rollout planned for July. The update is designed to address both shifting dating preferences and rising loneliness among younger generations, as well as help Tinder respond to a decline in paying subscribers. This move reflects Tinder’s renewed focus on fostering social connections and retaining younger users.
