Spencer Matthews Sets Marathon Record in Desert

Spencer Matthews has set a Guinness World Record by running 30 consecutive marathons on sand through the Jordanian desert, covering 786 miles in 45-degree heat. This feat raised over £350,000 for Global’s Make Some Noise charity. Matthews, a former reality TV star, underwent rigorous training, including running 30 kilometers daily and acclimating in a 50-degree heat chamber, to prepare for the challenge. Despite suffering from numerous 'niggles' such as hip, knee, and foot pain, Matthews completed the final marathon in 4 hours and 17 minutes without serious injuries. He expressed deep gratitude and humility, seeing this accomplishment as the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Matthews aims to continue fundraising and hopes to make running accessible for children in the UK.
