New Sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer Announced

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming legacy sequel of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' with Sarah Michelle Gellar possibly making a return as well. Despite Gellar's character being killed off in the original film, she teased her role in an unofficial capacity, assisting director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Hewitt has expressed her desire for a meaningful return, emphasizing that she doesn't want to be a mere cameo and is currently negotiating her involvement around her schedule with '9-1-1.' The film, which is confirmed to be canon, will introduce new characters while ignoring previous sequels. Other cast members include Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, and Sarah Pidgeon, with a theatrical release scheduled for July 18, 2025. This sequel comes after the cancellation of a Prime Video series based on the franchise in 2022.
