Phu Quoc Selected to Host APEC 2027, Major Upgrades Planned

Phu Quoc Island has been selected to host the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, marking Vietnam's third time hosting the event. In preparation, Kien Giang Province is accelerating infrastructure projects, including significant upgrades to Phu Quoc International Airport and An Thoi International Port. The airport will be expanded to accommodate 20 million passengers, with enhancements to terminals and runways, while the port will be capable of handling the world's largest cruise ships. Additionally, road infrastructure will be improved to facilitate transportation between the airport and the APEC Multifunctional Complex, which will serve as the event's central venue. This complex will feature conference facilities, hotels, and entertainment areas, enhancing Phu Quoc's appeal as a tourist destination. The extensive developments are expected to generate long-term economic benefits for the region.
