International Searches Target Hutch Crime Group

Major coordinated searches targeting the Hutch organised crime group took place in Spain and Ireland on October 23, 2024, as part of an investigation into money laundering activities across multiple jurisdictions. In Spain, ten searches were conducted with support from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) while one residential property in Dublin was also searched following an International Letter of Request from Spanish authorities. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Guardia Civil, GNBCI, the Criminal Assets Bureau, and the Emergency Response Unit. This investigation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the Hutch crime group, which has been previously targeted in operations, including one in Lanzarote in June 2022. Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing, highlighting the transnational nature of the organized crime activities. This operation underscores enhanced cooperation between Irish and Spanish law enforcement agencies.
