United Fan Assaulted Over Hair Stunt at Old Trafford

Frank Ilett, aka the United Strand, has vowed not to cut his hair until Manchester United record five consecutive wins, a stunt he began on October 5 that has made him a viral social-media figure and raised money for charity. Ilett travelled from Spain to attend United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford, where he was filmed in the concourse being attacked by a fellow supporter who grabbed and yanked his hair and called him an "attention-seeking c***". Other matchgoers intervened to restrain the aggressor while the clip circulated widely and prompted widespread condemnation online. Ilett said he was stunned but later celebrated the victory and hopes the incident was a one-off. Supporters have also noted that United’s inconsistent form under Rúben Amorim has prolonged the stunt and contributed to heightened emotions among fans.
