Man convicted of murdering mother at Notting Hill Carnival

Shakeil Thibou, 20, has been found guilty of murdering Cher Maximen, a 32-year-old mother, who was fatally stabbed in front of her three-year-old daughter during the Notting Hill Carnival on August 25 last year. The court heard that Thibou attacked Maximen with a knife while attempting to target another man, Adjei Isaac, during a disturbance at the event. Maximen suffered a 12cm stab wound to her groin and died six days later in the hospital. Thibou's brother, Sheldon, was also convicted of violent disorder and assaulting a police officer who intervened, while a third brother was found guilty of assaulting the officer but cleared of violent disorder.
