Dearborn Man Charged Human Trafficking After Brazilian Woman Found Dead Washtenaw County

Fareed George Hajjar, a Dearborn man, has been charged with human trafficking in connection with the death of Suzan Ferreira, a 42-year-old Brazilian woman whose body was found in a Washtenaw County field in June 2024. Hajjar allegedly transported Ferreira from her hotel in Novi to his home in Dearborn to engage in sexual acts for money. Ferreira was reported missing on June 24, 2024, and her partially skeletonized body was discovered six days later; however, the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner could not determine the cause or manner of her death. Authorities found Hajjar's residence during their investigation and charged him with prostitution-related offenses, including transporting a person and facilitating travel services for prostitution and human trafficking. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy emphasized that the charges serve as a warning against such crimes and affirmed that Ferreira has not been forgotten. Hajjar is scheduled to be arraigned on July 9, 2025, and further details are expected to emerge at the preliminary examination.
