Montreal Canadiens Training Camp Starts with 59 Players

The Montreal Canadiens have announced their training camp roster for 2024, featuring 59 players, including 35 forwards, 17 defensemen, and seven goaltenders. The camp opens on September 18 at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard with physicals and medical tests. Among the participants, 43 players hold NHL contracts, 12 have AHL contracts, and three are on tryout agreements. The training camp is notably smaller than previous years, which saw up to 74 players invited, indicating a more streamlined evaluation process by management. Practices and evaluations will be led by head coach Martin St-Louis and his staff, with the first preseason game scheduled against the Philadelphia Flyers on September 23. The Canadiens' season opener is set for October 9 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.
