Car Seat Headrest Announces New Album 'The Scholars', Set for May Release

Car Seat Headrest has announced their first album in five years, titled The Scholars, set to be released on May 2nd via Matador Records. This rock opera takes place at Parnassus University and follows a character named Rosa, who, after reviving a deceased patient, discovers her ability to heal others by absorbing their pain. The lead single, 'Gethsemane,' is an 11-minute multi-part track accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Andrew Wonder. The album explores themes of life, death, and rebirth, with a narrative that blurs reality and delves into dark secrets of the university. In support of the album, Car Seat Headrest will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in 2025, with presale tickets available starting March 5th. The band describes this new project as a spiritual rebirth, marking a significant evolution in their sound and approach.
