Rocky Mountain Vibes Ending Operations, Colorado Springs Losing Professional Baseball
The Rocky Mountain Vibes announced they will cease operations and will not play in the 2026 season, owner D.G. Elmore and Pioneer League officials confirmed. The decision follows recent Pioneer League changes — including the relocation of the Grand Junction club and the resignation/move of the Northern Colorado Owlz — which left the Vibes as the only Pioneer League team in Colorado and made travel costs and the venture economically unsustainable. The closure effectively ends decades of professional minor‑league baseball in Colorado Springs, a franchise lineage that includes the Sky Sox and prior Triple‑A affiliations before the 2019 rebrand and the 2020 MLB realignment. City of Colorado Springs, Visit Colorado Springs and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation issued a joint statement expressing sadness but said they are actively exploring new sports opportunities and committed to preserving baseball’s legacy locally. Team owners have not announced any relocation or replacement and local reporting noted the move followed months of rumors and a large team garage sale.
