Spirit Airlines Expands Savannah Routes and Strategy

Spirit Airlines is launching new nonstop routes from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, marking an expansion in their Georgia market. Starting August 14, 2025, Spirit will offer daily flights from Savannah to Newark, with additional routes to Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, and Detroit beginning in October. These new services aim to provide travelers with affordable and convenient options to explore key destinations across the East Coast and Midwest. Savannah represents Spirit's third new destination this year, following expansions to Chattanooga and Columbia. The airline's strategy now focuses on smaller cities with limited flights on peak days, diverging from its previous approach of frequent routes to larger cities. Introductory fares for these routes are available, enhancing competition and travel options for the Lowcountry region.
