Seven Dead in Honduras Plane Crash; Ten Injured

A plane crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Roatan Island, Honduras, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to ten others. The Jetstream aircraft, operated by Lanhsa, was en route to La Ceiba with 14 passengers and three crew members on board. Among the deceased was noted Garifuna musician Aurelio Martinez Suazo. Rescue operations faced challenges due to difficult terrain, with survivors being hospitalized following their recovery from the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting mechanical failure may have played a role. Honduran President Xiomara Castro has activated an Emergency Operations Committee to assist with the incident.
