Charles Schwab Leads $26.5M Series B Funding in Singapore's Qapita, Plans US Expansion
Qapita, a Singapore-based equity management platform, has raised $26.5 million in a Series B funding round led by U.S. financial institution Charles Schwab Corporation, marking Schwab's first strategic investment in an Asian-origin fintech. The partnership includes the launch of Schwab Private Issuer Equity Services, a digital platform powered by Qapita, designed to assist U.S. private companies in managing cap tables, stock plans, and transitions to public markets. Founded in 2019 by CEO Ravi Ravulaparthi, COO Lakshman Gupta, and CTO Vamsee Mohan, Qapita serves approximately 2,700 companies, with a majority based in India and Southeast Asia, and counts about half of India’s unicorns as clients. The funding will support Qapita's expansion into the U.S. market, where it has begun building a team and aims to tailor its platform to local startup needs. Additionally, the company plans to launch a fund administration product across its operating markets, leveraging its scalable and configurable platform. This strategic collaboration and capital infusion position Qapita to compete more effectively with rivals like Carta and expand its footprint in the global private equity management space.
