ISRO to Launch EOS-08 Satellite on August 16

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-08) aboard the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3) on August 16, 2024, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This mission marks the third and final developmental flight of the SSLV, aiming to complete its development and enable future operational missions by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and Indian industry. The EOS-08 satellite, weighing 175.5 kg, features three advanced payloads: the Electro Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR), the Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry payload (GNSS-R), and the SiC UV Dosimeter. These payloads support various applications, including satellite-based surveillance, disaster monitoring, environmental observation, and remote sensing. The launch window begins at 09:17 IST, and the mission has a one-year duration. The SSLV is known for its low cost and quick assembly time, making it ideal for launching multiple small satellites.
