The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced a fare reduction of up to 33% for the Belapur-Pendhar Metro Corridor in Navi Mumbai, effective September 7. The new fare structure sets the minimum fare at Rs 10 and the maximum at Rs 30, significantly down from the previous maximum of Rs 40. This change is aimed at making the metro service more accessible and encourages increased ridership, especially around the festive season of Ganesh Chaturthi. CIDCO Managing Director Vijay Singhal emphasized that the fare reduction will benefit both short and long-distance commuters, and he urged residents to utilize the metro service. The Belapur-Pendhar line, which commenced operations on November 17, 2023, has been well-received by the public, and the fare revision is seen as a festive gift to commuters. Local residents have expressed support for the fare cuts, recognizing the savings it offers for daily travel.
