Coco Gauff Splits Coaches, Hires Biomechanics Expert Ahead US Open

Coco Gauff, the 2023 US Open and 2025 French Open champion, has made a surprising coaching change just days before the 2025 US Open, parting ways with coaches Matt Daly and J.C. Faurel. Despite early success under Daly, including winning the China Open and WTA Finals, Gauff's form declined following the clay court season, with notable struggles on her serve and a high number of double faults in recent tournaments such as the Canadian and Cincinnati Opens. To address these issues, she has hired biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan, known for helping Aryna Sabalenka improve her serve and achieve Grand Slam success. Gauff has openly acknowledged her serving difficulties and hopes that working with MacMillan will reduce her double fault rate and improve her match performance. This coaching reshuffle mirrors a similar dramatic change Gauff made last year after her US Open exit, indicating her determination to regain peak form and contend strongly at the US Open.
