Himachal Pradesh Proposes Comprehensive Water Law

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the formation of an umbrella act to consolidate all existing water-related laws, emphasizing the need for better water resource management. This initiative was discussed during a high-power committee meeting, where Sukhu underscored his government's commitment to improving the state's financial health, evidenced by a recent four percent increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees and pensioners. He criticized the previous BJP government for neglecting state interests, which he claims led to an investment drain. Additionally, Sukhu highlighted the importance of addressing environmental challenges, particularly those related to global warming and the increasing frequency of cloudbursts, necessitating further studies. The Chief Minister assured that the state's resources will be utilized effectively and ongoing court cases will be pursued vigorously.
