Jammu and Kashmir Congress Confident Ahead of Elections

Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hamid Karra expressed confidence that the NC-Congress alliance will secure a 'comfortable majority' in the upcoming assembly elections, despite exit polls suggesting a hung assembly. He opened the coalition to like-minded parties to help keep the BJP out of power, stating that the final results would exceed exit poll projections. Karra raised concerns over alleged electoral malpractices, including the transportation of illicit goods, and criticized the potential nomination of five MLAs by the Lieutenant Governor as undemocratic and manipulative. This sentiment was echoed by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, who welcomed the prospect of PDP joining the coalition. Both leaders emphasized the importance of forming a secular government against the BJP. The Congress-NC coalition aims to address complaints from candidates regarding the electoral process and ensure that local body elections are conducted by the newly elected government.
