New York Man Charged Stealing Nearly $500K From New Jersey Employer
Joseph Hardoon, a 28-year-old man from Valley Stream, New York, has been charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking for allegedly stealing nearly $500,000 from his former employer in Ocean Township, Monmouth County. Hardoon, who worked as a bookkeeper, is accused of diverting approximately $497,500 from the company between 2021 and 2024. The theft was discovered after the employer reported the missing funds to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, which launched an investigation through its Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit. Hardoon was charged and released on a summons, pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court. Prosecutors emphasized that Hardoon is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and he is represented by attorney William Cunningham. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Michael Costanzo.
