Rain Abandons England–Pakistan; Points Shared
Heavy rain at Khettarama in Colombo forced abandonment of the England–Pakistan Women’s World Cup match with the sides sharing the points after Pakistan reached 34/0 chasing a DLS target of 113. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana had earlier ripped through England’s top order with a probing new-ball seam spell and her spinners also troubled England as they slumped to 78/7 before a 47‑run eighth-wicket stand between Charlie Dean and Em Arlott pushed England to 133/9. The washout gave Pakistan their first tournament point — they now sit bottom with one point and the worst net run rate — while England remain top of the group on net run rate. New Zealand said they were wary of Pakistan’s increasingly impressive bowling attack and the tricky Khettarama conditions that have shaped several results. Pakistan remain without a win but are still mathematically alive in the tournament despite ongoing batting concerns.
