DoorDash Expands Delivery Services Across US Markets

DoorDash has officially completed its acquisition of Deliveroo, valuing the UK takeaway platform at $4 billion, with Miki Kuusi named as Deliveroo's new CEO while retaining his role at DoorDash. The acquisition aims to enhance user experience, support merchants with new business tools, and protect rider flexibility and safety. In the U.S., DoorDash is expanding its offerings to include restaurant reservations through a new "Going Out" tab and is introducing robot deliveries in select markets, signaling a move towards autonomous delivery to meet growing demand. DoorDash also expanded its partnership with Kroger to offer nationwide grocery delivery, integrating Kroger's full assortment and deals into the DoorDash app for millions of customers. Additionally, Yelp has partnered with DoorDash to provide expanded restaurant delivery options, enabling users to order directly via DoorDash’s platform. Meanwhile, Serve Robotics, in collaboration with Uber Eats, launched autonomous sidewalk robot delivery in Chicago, marking the expansion of contact-free delivery services in the Midwest and enhancing delivery convenience and sustainability.
