CBS Blue Bloods Spinoff Boston Blue Adds Maggie Lawson
CBS is launching a Blue Bloods spinoff titled Boston Blue, premiering this fall, starring Donnie Wahlberg reprising his role as Danny Reagan who transfers from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department. Maggie Lawson, known for her role in Psych, has been cast as Sarah Silver, a strong-willed and decisive superintendent in the Boston Police Department, and stepsister to Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. The Silver family, including Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters, a pastor and family patriarch, is portrayed as a distinguished law enforcement family in Boston. The show is developed by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, with Wahlberg and Jerry Bruckheimer among the executive producers. The series is set to explore the dynamics of policing in a new city, alongside family complexities within the Silver family, offering fresh storylines distinct from Blue Bloods. Wahlberg has hinted that other Blue Bloods characters may appear, as the Reagans remain connected by phone, maintaining ties to the original series.
