Hector Perez Arrested for Long Beach Murder

Hector Perez, a 32-year-old man from Lynwood, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering 43-year-old Ali Jabbaar Phannix, a homeless individual found dead from gunshot wounds in Long Beach on August 18. Perez was already in custody on unrelated charges when detectives secured a warrant for his rebooking on murder charges, with bail set at $2.05 million. Although the motive for the shooting remains unclear, police have confirmed that the two men were acquaintances at the time of the incident. Officers responded to the scene early on August 18, where Phannix was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
