Michigan Gas Prices Drop 13 Cents Amid Regional Refinery Recovery

Michigan gas prices have dropped by 13 cents since last week, with the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded now at $3.18, according to AAA. This decrease is 10 cents less than last month and 8 cents less than the same time last year, resulting in an average cost of about $47 for a full 15-gallon tank. Metro Detroit’s average stands at $3.26 per gallon, down 5 cents from last week, while Ann Arbor has the highest prices at $3.27 and Traverse City the lowest at $3.04. Experts note that prices may continue to fall if demand decreases further. The price drop in Michigan contrasts with the national trend of rising gas prices, attributed to factors like refinery outages and seasonal maintenance, though OPEC+ production increases could help stabilize prices. Regional differences persist, with Upper Peninsula counties seeing a range from $2.99 to $3.44 per gallon.
